Licenses and Intellectual Property
CardiaLen holds an exclusive global joint license from Washington University in St. Louis and from Case Western Reserve University, for all uses in all fields. These fields cover low-energy cardioversion and defibrillation in atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. They also cover novel methods of pacing. The company will utilize this technology, along with its independent inventions, to develop implantable low-energy (low-voltage) pain-free atrial cardioverters. CardiaLen has an exclusive option to license future inventions by Professor Efimov in the field, made during his research at Washington University. It will own any inventions it makes outside the university’s facilities and has already filed worldwide patent applications to protect its treatment protocol design.
